Former Milford mayor honored today

The Milford bar association Friday honored former Mayor James Richetelli Jr., who served 10 years as mayor. Richetelli is now deputy superintendent of school operations.

The Liberty Bell Award was presented for exceptional community service by a non-lawyer in conjunction with national Law Day.

The award was presented to the longtime mayor by former City Attorney Winthrop Smith.

Shown at Friday's luncheon are program Chairman Michael McCabe, bar President Laurel Ellson, Richetelli and Smith.

After the June 11 arrest of Luis A. Rodriguez for the 2001 murder of Walnut Beach resident Kelsey Monahon, I got curious about other long-term unsolved homicides in Milford.
