Milford city clerk's office celebrates
April
29 through May 5 was designated as the 43rd Annual Municipal Clerks
Week. It was an opportunity to
celebrate the works of Town and City Clerks throughout the United States,
Canada and 15 other countries. The
international Institute of Municipal Clerks has sponsored Municipal Clerks Week
since 1969. In 1984 and 1994, Presidents
Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, respectively, signed a Proclamation officially
declaring the first full week of May, Municipal Clerks Week.
The event is aimed at increasing
the public’s awareness of the vital services provided for local government and
the community. Milford took great pride
in celebrating this week as staff raised funds for the Milford Rape Crisis
Center, Walk A Mile in Her Shoes. Staff
walked as a team: City Clerk’s Fancy
Footworks. In addition, they collected 5
boxes of foodstuffs needed by the Milford Food Bank, which is located at the
Senior Center. They help anyone who is
in need of food. A reception for all
those who visit the office was held and Mayor Blake delivered a Proclamation,
proclaiming April 29 through May 5, Municipal Clerks Week in Milford.
The week was a success, thanks
to the wonderful staff in the City Clerk’s office, who are always willing to go
the extra mile.
