Cracker Barrel cashier arrested for alleged credit card theft

A West Haven resident was arrested on Sunday for allegedly making unauthorized transactions that stemmed from the Milford Cracker Barrel restaurant. Police received a complaint on Oct. 3 from the restaurant regarding several customer's credit cards that were compromised in July 2012. Investigation revealed that at least 12 customers had unauthorized transactions made on their accounts in New York state, according to police. Police charged Shanakawa Cameron, 22, with 12 counts each for unlawful use of a scanning device, credit card theft and conspiracy to commit identity theft. Read the rest of the police blotter here.

Milford fast approaches FEMA deadline for Hurricane Sandy

Mayor Ben Blake would like to remind residents impacted by Storm Sandy that the deadline for registering with FEMA for disaster assistance is December 31, 2012. You can register by calling 800-621-3362 (TTY 800-462-7585) or online at www.disasterassistance.gov . Residents must register with FEMA in order to be considered to receive disaster assistance. Residents should also be advised that the deadline to apply for low-interest loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration is also December 31, 2012.
