Tropical Storm Irene damage repaired in Milford

Update: 4:30 p.m. The Woodmont Beach which was depleted by Irene now has sand on it and it will be ready for beach season beginning Memorial Day. The project cost $525,000 and three quarters of the funding is paid by the federal government. Full story coming soon to www.newhavenregister.com

Milford officials led by Mayor Ben Blake are holding a press conference at 3 p.m. at Beach Avenue in Woodmont to go over repairs to the beach wall there. I am told this has to do with damage as a result of Tropical Storm Irene, which resulted in millions of dollars of damage. I will be present for the press conference, and as soon as I know the details I will come back here and update what happened. All I am told is that a bulk of the renovations have been completed.
