Crack Cocaine Dealer Arrested in Milford

 Crack dealer arrested
Police had been searching for Jovon Smith since March for the sale of narcotics and found him at a local hotel on Tuesday. Smith allegedly discarded a bag containing nine smaller bags of crack cocaine when police approached him.

Smith was charged with three counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of sale of narcotics and one count of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and is being held on a $30,000 bond.

Police on Tuesday arrested Carlos Perez of Danbury for possession of crack cocaine. Police stopped Perez's vehicle on the Boston Post Road after seeing it had a broken windshield.

A drug-sniffing K9 dog found the crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Perez had two outstanding arrest warrants in Meriden and and Waterbury and was released into the custody of the Waterbury Police Department.

Shoplifting arrests

Shanell Morrison of New Haven was arrested after police received a complaint for shoplifting at Macy's. A police investigation concluded that Morrison stole $240 worth of merchandise from the store and damaged one shirt when removing a security sensor.


Daisy Rivera of West Haven was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday after a police investigation concluded that she was part of a shoplifting attempt at Marshalls in January. Rivera allegedly entered the store with another female and male and stole $234 worth of merchandise.

An employee approached the group and the male became combative and was subsequently arrested.

Police arrested Timothy Fitzsimons on a warrant Tuesday after a police investigation concluded that he stole an undisclosed amount of money from the safe of a Dollar Store. Fitzsimons worked at the Dollar Store and entered the building after it had closed.
