Milford Brush Fire that Destroyed 50-acres Forever a Mystery

The Milford brush fire that destroyed 50 acres of land earlier this month and sections of the Beaverbrook recreational boardwalk will forever remain a mystery concerning what caused the blaze.

Since the fire, which began near Schoolhouse Road and Bridgeport Avenue, I’ve been trying to find out what ignited the blaze.

However, this morning Milford Fire Capt. Chris Zak emailed me that the fire marshal’s office decided not to devote the resources necessary to determine a cause because it would be impossible.

Mayor Ben Blake has said that the city is still examining the extent of the damage to the wooden boardwalk, which is located along West Avenue and Schoolhouse Road. The property is still accessible to the public. The wooden boardwalk helped people navigate over rocky terrain.

Blake has said it’s still to be determined whether the boardwalk will be replaced.
