Honoring Milford's Daniel Wasson

It's been 25 years since Milford Police Officer Daniel Wasson was shot and killed in the line of duty.

There have been numerous tributes over the years honoring his service to Milford, and all very much deserved. He made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the residents he served.

This weekend there are numerous opportunities for residents to pay tribute. The story we wrote today lists them all, and if you have time this weekend please drop by.

The K-9 trials occurring Saturday and Sunday at Wasson Field, of course, sound like a lot of fun. Also there will be a public demonstration at Joseph A. Foran High School Saturday night.

I've been covering Milford since 2000, and wasn't here when Wasson was killed, but I can tell whenever I talk with Milford police officers they often reference Wasson, and what he means to them.

I hope you can attend one of the various public events this weekend.
