Breaking: Milford Stays with Anthem, Saves $1.13 million

Milford unions will be pleased to know that the city is staying with Anthem as its health insurance provider. Originally, it appeared the city was going to change providers and go with Cigna.

Cigna quoted a three-year bid that would provide taxpayers $1.9 million in annual savings. However, union leaders expressed concerns, and Mayor Ben Blake renegotiated with Anthem, which led the provider to reduce its original offer by $1.13 million.

While the savings are not as much as Cigna was willing to provide union employees will be pleased and taxpayers will still receive significant savings.

A press release is expected to be released on this later this evening. Check www.nhregister.com for more information later.
