Letter to the editor from Mayor Ben Blake

By Ben Blake

Mayor of Milford, CT
On behalf of all of the citizens of Milford, I would like to thank everyone who has helped in the Storm Sandy recovery efforts.  Your hard work and generosity truly demonstrates why Milford is a “small city with a big heart.”
As you well know, we have had a difficult few weeks since Sandy darkened our city, with hundreds of resident displaced and thousands of homes damaged.   A follow-up Nor’easter only seemed like a bitter second punch.  But, it is through the tireless and impressive efforts of our city workers, our volunteer organizations and our citizenry that we have turned the tides and are re-building our great city.  Our recovery is a work in progress, but thanks to those who gave of themselves to help others, we are all on the road to recovery.
Everywhere we look, in every neighborhood, the people of Milford are coming together to help those in need.  So many have shared their strengths and skills with their neighbors, supplying meals, clothing and hot showers, helping with repairs to homes, streets and yards and offering inestimable support  to make sure that all our citizens are back on track.
It is tremendously gratifying to see our community come together, as it always does, to help our neighbors who suffered from Sandy regroup and recover.
