Milford bridge repairs project set to begin

MILFORD--The State of Connecticut will begin emergency repairs to the bridge on Route 162 (New Haven Avenue), located at the Milford and West Haven town line, Monday through Friday between the approximate hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. This area will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic during construction.

The Milford Police Department has advised motorists to expect delays.

A planned detour has been established for each direction.

The Eastbound traffic detour is:

1. Route 162 left onto Anderson Avenue
2. Anderson Avenue right onto Merwin Avenue
3. Merwin Avenue right onto Oxford Road
4. Oxford Road to the West Haven town line continued onto West Haven Woodmont Road
5. West Haven Woodmont Road left onto Route 162

The Westbound traffic detour is the Eastbound detour, but in reverse order.

The roadways that comprise the detours will experience increased traffic and may result in some expected delays.

For further information regarding this construction project, please contact Philip Cohen from the State of Connecticut at 860-594-2744.
