Police issue 95 tickets in "Click it or Ticket" campaign

During a two-week seat belt safety campaign, police netted a number of drivers who chose "ticket" over "click it."

Milford Police participated in the state Department of Transportation "High Visibility Safety Belt/Child Safety Seat “Click it or Ticket” Campaign" May 20 to June 2, and came back with the following results:

Seat belt infractions 95
Seat belt warnings 4
Other motor vehicle violation infractions 5
Other motor vehicle violation warnings 14
DUI 1
Criminal arrests 5

"This campaign involved high visibility enforcement efforts regarding children restrained in child safety seats, seat belt usage among vehicle occupants and compliance with the proper use of cell phones. Police efforts included safety checkpoints in various locations of the city," a police department release said.
